The Apocrypha - Download

The Apocrypha has been included in this site as there are a number of Christians who may be curious to know about them. Although the Syriac Orthodox Church does consider some of the books of The Apocrypha as part of the Holy Scriptures, almost all believers use the Protestant versions of the Holy Bible.

The official editions of the King James contained the books of the Apocrypha until 1796.

Most printers did not clear inventories and change to the sixty-six book version we know today until the mid-1800s. Thus, most Bibles printed before 1840 still had the Apocrypha, or at least most of the Apocrypha.

As it turns out, various denominations have different versions of the Bible, made up of divergent lists of books. The Protestant church has its sixty-six books, the Catholics have kept most of the Apocrypha. The Eastern Orthodox Church claims three more books than the Catholics, and the Ethiopic Church has a total of eighty-one books in its Bible.
