St. Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church and Mission Centre in Hosur is under the administration of the Bharath Jyothi Divine Trust of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church. His Grace Thomas Mar Themothios - Metropolitan, is the Chairperson of the Trust.
It is an integral part of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church with the Patriarch of Antioch, who is headquartered at Damascus, as its Supreme Head.
The Hosur Syrian Orthodox Church has been named in memory of “Parumala Thirumeni” St. Gregorios. Millions of believers have received and continue to receive blessings and find solutions to their problems through the intercession of this great Saint.
For nearly ten years, the small congregation of Malankara Syrian Orthodox Christians in Hosur had been gathering for their Sunday worship in a small rented shed. The early settlers in Hosur had not dreamt even in their wildest dreams that they would partake in the Holy Qurbana at a place of their own.
Now the reality of this beautiful Church, with its distinct architectural design, is nothing short of a miracle for these believers. It has helped many of them to re-discover the unique spiritual and cultural traditions of their Church.
The St. Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church & Mission Centre, Hosur is at Moogandapalli, on the Bangalore - Hosur National Highway. It is the first Jacobite Church in the Districts of Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Salem.
Rev.Fr.M.U. Paulose is the administrator of the Mission Centres at the Anagalapura, Mysore Road & Hosur. He is also the Vicar of the St.Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Hosur
The Church is situated at the very top, on the second floor of the building. We now have regular Church Service on all Sundays and feast days , and that steps are being taken to expand the Mission activities in Hosur. A Day Care Centre and Pre-school for children aged between 1 and 3 is functioning on the ground floor since 2011. Work is in progress for getting the necessary approvals for starting a Nursery & Primary School (from LKG to class V) under the name Gregorian Academy. Class rooms, library and other facilities are getting ready on the first floor of the building. God willing, the school will start functioning with its first batch of LKG students in June 2015. We already have a Daycare facility and Montessori Pre-school functioning since 2011.
A separate building for a Children's Hostel will all amenities is almost ready. Initially, it is proposed to open a hostel for extremely poor in our school. The hostel will not only take care of all their physical needs such as food, clothing, health, education, books, school fees etc., but also their emotional needs. When it opens, the new hostel will have at-least ten needy children under its care.
Mission Centre attached to this church will be an extension of the one already functioning at Anagalapura, Bangalore. The Anagalapura centre, apart from running the St.George High School, is engaged in providing free medical aid to the needy and free education including books, clothing and food - to a number of socially and economically backward children irrespective of their caste, religion or language.
Any contribution, however small, towards the expansion of the Mission Centre activities will be gratefully accepted. Demand Drafts or Cheques may please be drawn in favour of “ Mission Center- Anagalapura” payable at Bangalore.
